Discover University of Nebraska 4-H for Your Family!
Would you like to spend more time with your children, helping them have fun and developing skills to succeed in life? Then consider Nebraska 4-H.
4-H is the official youth program of Cooperative Extension at the University of Nebraska. This educational program is for all youth, ages 5 to 19.
4-H members use instruction books from the University of Nebraska to explore more than 150 topics such as woodworking, nutrition, public speaking and more. Some communities also have dance clubs. 4-H encourages families to spend time together, and members develop greater self-confidence, leadership and communication skills through their involvement.
Group meetings are another important part of 4-H. The meetings are organized by caring, responsible adults who are known as 4-H leaders or volunteers. Parents are welcome to attend and help out with 4-H meetings.
One of the great strengths of 4-H is its ability to involve parents in activities with their children. Research shows family involvement in community organizations like 4-H can help children receive higher scores in school and develop stronger family relationships.
